I wanted to thank you for this little but extremely useful plugin.
It was pretty easy to modify it to feet my blog’s layout and for that I’m grateful, but I’d like to have a larger set of weather statuses represented, and I wonder where can I get more information about the classes used in the configuration file (where you grouped them to use the same icon).
Your help would be appreciated.

Ciao, mi fa piacere incontrare sul web un designer napoletano; ma le tue informazioni sono scarse.
Anche io sono di Napoli e da poco per diletto ho realizzato un sito con wordpress; se vuoi vistalo e dammi un commento. Ora sono alla ricerca di miglioramenti e ho trovato il tuo plugin per il tempo; a dire il vero, già ho provato altri plugin per il tempo, ma sarei maggiormente interessato ad un plugin che invece del tempo attuale mi mostri le previsioni (non ti sembra più interessante?).
Comunque, mi sembra molto bello il lavoro fatto per la gallery; io da parte mia sto cercando di realizzare la gallery con l’integrazione con Gallery2 e WPG2, penso sia una ottima soluzione.
Per quanto riguarda le hosting solutions; ho da vari anni un dominio proprietario su Playnet (www.megadimaonline.it), che non mi ha mai dato problemi di sicurezza. Attualmente, però non è aggiornato con l’utilizzo di WP, perchè sto utilizzando Altervista per testare i miei lavori.

Caro Guido,
Il sistema myWeather “tecnicamente” ha già al suo interno le previsioni per 5 giorni (oltre le quali weather.com richiede una registrazione)
Pultroppo il parser xml attuale è decisamente complicato per gli elementi oltre il giorno attuale. Passando al parser del PHP5 i problemi sparirebbero, ma anche la compatibilità della plug-in.

Comunque nella nuova versione cercherò di inserire questa opzione.

Per l’host ti ringrazio, ma ho già deciso per bluehost, appena la carta di credito me lo permette.

I really like the simplicity of this plugin. When I activate Fahrenheit, the temperature is not displayed. Instead, it displays the following:

1/28/08 4:45 PM EST°

I only need to display the temperature. Is there any way I can fix this? I am running WP 2.3.2.

Here is my line 234 from the php file:

$weather=’‘.$city.’‘.$tmp.’‘;

It looks like the TMP is correct. The city I am displaying is Abiquiu, New Mexico, USA.

When I change over to Celsius, everything works fine.

I saw that someone on the Wordpress forums was having the same problem with Fahrenheit temperatures.

Every few days, I’ve noticed that the current temperature will not display on the myWeather button. Instead, the date and time are displayed in extra-large type that extends far outside the button. For example, at this moment, the button displays “1/30/08″ in a font that covers the entire length and width of the button, and “11:25 AM EST°” is displayed outside the button. Based on what I’ve seen in past, this problem will correct itself at some point, but it may be an hour or two later. Do you know what causes this problem to occur, and how to prevent it? Thanks.

Haaa, finalmente un italiano.
Allora, sono 2 cose diverse. Prima cosa non c’e il supporto widget (ci sarà nella prossima versione, attualmente in sviluppo, ma puoi effettuare questa modifica per inserirla tu: widget support).

Comunque devi semplicemente inserire < ?php wp_myweather();?> (senza spazio fra < e ?) nel tuo template (nella sidebar in generale). Puoi farlo direttamente online da "Aspetto->editor temi”

Non volevo certo colpevolizzarti per non conoscere l’html, ma certo non posso dirti come fare via commenti. Non so nemmeno che tipo di tema hai. Comunque se hai messo il codice nella pagina ed hai caricato online basta attivare il plug-in, dovrebbe funzionare perfettamente. Mi raccomando il codice senza lo spazio fra < e ?.

When I add the new 2.3 version to my sidebar I get the following error:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: simplexmlelement in /home/ddigger1/public_html/wp-content/plugins/myweather/myweather.php on line 81

I was having the Fahrenheit display problem in 2.1 and thought this version would solve that, but now it is breaking my sidebar completely. Any idea what to do?

Sorry, I just saw that 2.3 is only good with PHP5. I need to brush up on my Italian! I need 2.2 to solve the xml parser problem. When I download 2.2 from the WP Plugins site I get a bad zip header and no installation folder. Any help?

E vero che SimpleXMLElement e l’unica cosa per quale il plugin funziona solo con php5 ? Non uso piu php da qualche anno ma immagino che un parser xml deve essistere che funziona con tutte le versioni di php. Forse essiste una versione di SimpleXMLElement per php4. Ancora ci sono alcuni di noi che non possono cambiare php da 4 a 5 sul webserver. Spero che trovi una soluzione per fare il plugin funzionare su php4.

SimleXML è l’unico motivo per cui funziona su php5, ed esiste una versione da includere per il 4. Ma cambiano delle cose ed non è propriamente leggero. Sto valudando altri parser xml, ma per il 4 sono tutti complicati pare.

Al più presto vedrò di rilasciare la nuova versione retrocompatibile.

Sorry, this version support one city. For more cities you try a old version
1 (on wordpress plugin directory -> myweather -> Other Versions),but i can’t support it. In next version i try to reinsert a more cities support.

Complimenti ottimo davvero. Installato e funzionante sia su WP 2.3 che WP 2.5.
Volevo provare la versione 1 per la funzione multi city..
PS: il colore è sempre e solo blu..!? anche se in stile web 2.0 è davvero carina.

Ciao. Per il multi-città devo lavorarci, dalla 1 alla 2 c’è di mezzo un database è non e la cosa più semplice del mondo.
Per il colore la versione attuale supporta i temi. Puoi crearne uno tu (il tutorial è qui).

Quando lo installi la prima volta c’e sempre solo la riga “Search city” con il campo di testo “insert city name” e il pulsante (submit) “search city”. non è un link. L’ho testato su FF, Safari, IE6 e IE7 è funzionavano perfettamente. Testato anche su wordpress 2.3 e 2.5 dove funzionano perfettamente.

Puoi darmi maggiori informazioni?

Di nulla. Comunque il problema, guardando l’html del tuo sito, è dovuto a strani doppi o tripli tag html (2 volte strong e un tag left che non uso). Comunque il plug-in funziona con i template, puoi modificarlo tu stesso sia l’html che il css in “\myweather\templates\default”. Comunque potebbe essere un problema di qualche altra tua plug-in.

Il problema c’e solo se vedi il sito con Firefox. Con IE e Safari il plugin funziona bene.

myWeather requires the parameter “allow_url_fopen” set on true, in your php.ini. Look at blue “tip” on the php manual.

thank you for your quick answer. well, i´m not an expert at all, but in the /opt/lampp/etc/php.ini line 434 appears: allow_url_fopen = on
it´s the rigth file?, the rigth value? ( you said true instead ); I´ve changed to true without success. Should i make a “reload” of the file after edited ?

For some reason my cities can not be found. Is there a way to hard-code my cities in to the php? Or how else would I get them, thanks!

Ok, it actually can’t find any city. I’m deleting 2.4.1 and trying 2.4.0… I’ll let you know if I have the same problem.

Ok… well, i just installed 2.4.0 and it can’t find any city at all. I’ve even tried Atlanta, GA, even Long Beach, CA. Whats going on ?

Ok, I actually found out my problem. I didn’t realize my server was running PHP4, not 5. Switched it and VOILA! Thanks for a rocking plugin Eduardo.

Ciao! Innanzitutto complimenti per la bellissima plugin, davvero molto molto utile e semplice da utilizzare. Però… ho un grandissimo problema, che a quanto pare è già stato segnalato, ma non ho notato una risposta risolutiva. Ecco il problema: tutto funziona benissimo con IE e Safari, ma con Firefox tutto appare “scombinato” e fuori posto. La cosa particolarmente strana è che ciò accade SOLO nella homepage del mio sito, se ad esempio apro la pagina di un post specifico, tutto torna a posto e si visualizza correttamente.

Ho cercato di dare un’occhiata al codice, ma non sono affatto all’altezza… in ogni caso mi sembra molto strano che possa trattarsi di un problema di codice, proprio in virtù del fatto che il problema si presenta SOLO con Firefox, e SOLO nella homepage!

Mi piacerebbe molto utilizzare questa plugin sul mio sito, ma finchè non riuscirò a risolvere questo problema non la potrò lasciare

Posso sperare in un aiuto? Grazie infinite!

Grazie Alessandro per i complimenti. Purtroppo hai ragione, il problema non è di codice, ma dipende dal css del template. Pensavo di aver corretto e bloccato gli errori più comuni ma mi sbagliavo; è molto difficile stare dietro a tutti i template possibili. Comunque ho committato la 2.4.2, tempo una mezz’ora ed è scaricabile, a cui ho inserito un nuovo pezzo di css, sperando di risolvere i problemi. Fammi sapere.

Non chiude lo strong, e ciò distrugge tutto l’html a cascata. Facci caso sotto è tutto in grassetto. Firefox, a differenza di altri browser che tendono ad autocorregersi, fa visualizzare l’errore.

Controlla il more nel tuo articolo.

so my host doesn’t support ‘function.file-get-contents’ , they say it is a secruity issue and should not be supported. They say instead to use this cURL which I replaced in your admin.myweather.php
starting at line 161:

so the problem is with the ‘function.file-get-contents’ my host (dreamhost) does not support it because they say it is a security threat. They suggest this as a solution:

I replaced line 164 of admin.myweather.php with this CURL alternative and no longer had the error, but it still said “no city found” and that was it.

You’re right, but CURL is an extension to activate, not all servers there
have. However, I tried to fix with the 2.4.4 (published soon), which contains an if for CURL.

Attendi per favore, c’è un problema con il commit. Ho già effettuato il commit dei file corretti, ma l’attesa del refresh di wordpress può essere lunga. prova a ri-scaricare il file tra 1 ora circa.
